So we, being many, are one body in Christ,
and every one members one of another.
A Shreverport Louisiana woman is behind bars after a viral video shows her stealing an incredible 18 bottle of liquor from a local store. The customer placed several bottles in her oversized purse before resorting to putting more bottles in her pants and bra. Upon exiting the establishment she is seen smiling and strutting triumphantly as she seemingly escapes with her ill gotten gains. But in the scriptures Jesus confirms that “nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad” (Luke 8:17)
The Holy Bible tells us in multiple passages that stealing is a sin that is prohibited according to the laws of God and man.
Exodus 20:15 – Thou shalt not steal.
Leviticus 19:11 – Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.
Although the scriptures are unwavering in their pronunciation of the judgment for this sin, it is also written that a thief is not hated if he steals out of hunger and necessity.
Proverbs 6:30-31 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
This is all the more reason why this video is so incredibly vile. Stealing 18 bottles of liquor cannot feed a family or provide nourishment to an infant. It was stolen to fulfill yet another ungodly lust which is drunkenness.
Ephesians 5:18 – And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
The scriptures admonish us to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit so that we will not be driven to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. It is our prayer that those who are overtaken in the sins of theft or drunkenness my find strength to overcome in the words of the Heavenly Father and his Christ which are found in the Holy Bible.
