Roach Eating Contest Winner Receives First Place Prize of Death

A 32 year old man,  Edward Archbold, died after winning a roach and worm eating contest. What was the first place prize for this competition? He was told it was a python, but he got much more than he bargained for; death! He walked out of the store, vomited and died. Many people, including doctors, are saying that nothing is wrong with eating insects, but does the the Bible agree with this practice?

Leviticus 11:46-47  This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the  earth:  (47)  To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

Leviticus 11:41  And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.

This law in the Old Testament admonishes us of the fact that not everything on the earth is meant to be eaten. Christ shows us in the new testament that he did not change the law in Leviticus.

Matthew 5:17-19  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  (18)  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  (19)  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach  men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

It is a SIN to eat animals and insects that the lord commanded us not to eat!

1 John 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Many people will read the dietary laws in Leviticus the 11th chapter and think that they have been eating the unlawful foods like pork, shrimp, crab, lobster, roaches and other abominations, and nothing has happened to them. The following scripture explains why.

Ecclesiastes 8:11  Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Remember that Christ, through his death, gave us mercy and a chance to repent for our sins. Don’t take his grace as an opportunity to continue in sin. Repent and keep the commandments.

Romans 6:1-2  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  (2)  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Acts 17:30-31  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:  (31)  Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
