Hurricane Sandy Deaths Leave Authorities Searching for a Higher Form of Justice!

Of all the tragic stories in the days following Hurricane Sandy, there is one story that continues to evoke raw emotion. It is the story of two children, Brandon and Connor Moore who lost their lives when their mother was refused help even as storm waters raised, ripping them from their mother’s arms. According to Glenda Moore, she ran to the back porch of a nearby home after floodwaters pulled her SUV off the road. But was repeatedly turned away by the homeowner even as she cried frantically for her now lost children. When CNN correspondents arrived at the home, a man named Allen who refused to provide his last name denied that he ever saw Glenda and offered little compassion for her loss. In Allen’s words “It’s a tragedy, it’s unfortunate, she shouldn’t have been out though.” “It’s just one of those things, she shouldn’t have been on the road.” This horrible tragedy combined with Allen’s cavalier and callous attitude had many law enforcement officials consulting the law to see if he could be prosecuted as a criminal. But apparently it is not against the law to refuse help.

Although Allen may never be prosecuted in a court of law, those of us who believe in the words of the Holy Bible know that there is a higher court ruled by a higher authority who will judge him.

1st John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. (15) Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. (16) Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. (17) But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

The Heavenly Father makes it abundantly clear in the above scripture that if you see your brother in need of sustenance and refuse him aid, this is a level of hatred tantamount to murder. If the lord feels this strongly about the sharing of carnal possessions, how much greater then the offense of turning a blind eye while children die.

The Lord Jesus Christ warned us that in these last days sin would cover the Earth creating a generation that is without mercy, without compassion and hardhearted.

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Although the dead may never find true justice according to the Laws of this Land, we know that the judgment of God Almighty is inescapable. The guilty will be judged in this life and in the final judgment when we must all appear before the throne of Jesus Christ.

2nd Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (11) Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Knowing the terror of the Lord we persuade all who read this article to consider your ways and amend your dealings with your fellow man. Looking to the words of the Holy Bible for admonition and exhortation…

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
