Thanksgiving: Righteous or Wicked?

Thanksgiving! Does that word conjure up thoughts of turkey, stuffing, family and good times? For those that truly understand, images of murder, genocide, idolatry and betrayal flood our thoughts. How can there be two totally distinct mindsets regarding the same day? The answer is one is steeped in customs, traditions and what you learned in school while the other is based on the Bible and true history. Many of us were taught in school that Thanksgiving was about the Native Americans and Pilgrims coming together to have a meal and celebrate their new-found friendship. We were also taught that shortly thereafter, the Native Americans were decimated by their English “friends.” Blacks were slaves during this time and could not participate. Now, hundreds of years later, people have come to celebrate Thanksgiving as if it came from the Heavenly Father or the Bible.

This wicked and FALSE holiday came from neither the Heavenly Father nor the Bible. In fact, Thanksgiving has its origins in an idolatrous celebration of the Greeks called Thesmophoria. During this festival, they worshiped the Greek goddess of the harvest Demeter or the Roman goddess of the harvest Ceres. The scriptures are clear about worshiping other gods.

Exodus 20:3-6 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (4) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (5) Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; (6) And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Even the name of the festival is an abomination! Thesmophoria is derived from Thesmophoros, which according to Greek myths explains that Demeter established the laws.

Isaiah 33:22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

The Lord is our only lawgiver and he instructed us not to bow down to any idols as we just read in Exodus the 20th chapter. When we celebrate Thanksgiving, we are committing the SIN of idolatry and going against the teachings of Christ.

I Corinthians 10:20-21 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s Table, and of the table of devils.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

The Bible teaches that by keeping the wicked traditions of men, you reject the commandments of the Lord. In other words, keep the commandments and serve the Lord or reject the commandments and observe pagan holidays like Thanksgiving.

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Acts 17:29-30 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. 30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
