The Importance of Christ in These Times

When we look at everything going on around us, from the different earthquakes that recently hit Puerto Rico to the conflict in the middle east, the wildfires in Australia, the volcano eruption in the Phillipines, the different mass shootings, the increased sorrows and fears being felt by a lot of people and many more things that goes unpublicized, many people don’t know where to look or turn to for help.

There was one person that was sent to be our comfort and he’s not dead but very much alive in the heavens. That person is Jesus Christ.

When some of us go through these bad experiences we are tempted to sin and act out on our emotions and anger, but Christ did not do any of these things when tempted and he’s the example that we should follow. Christ came to the earth as a regular man and not as an angel and went through all of the things that we’re going through and he’s more important now than ever for us to look to him for guidance.

Hebrews 2:16-18 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Succour means assistance and support in times of hardship and distress.

In regards to the different conflicts going on in the world and natural phenomena he gave us the following advice.

Matthew 24:6-8 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

When we are living right in the eyes of God he will protect us from all the temptations that’s going to come in the world. And living right in the eyes of God is not going according to what we feel and think is right, but what God commanded us to do in the bible and following the examples that was set by Jesus Christ.

So for examples; you can’t be an adulterer, fornicator or thief-knowing very well that these things are wrong in the eyes of God and think that you’re going to be protected. You have to repent from your sins and start living according to the examples set by Christ to get the protection.

Nowadays there are many things that people turn to to get comfort but the true comfort will come by turning to Christ because he’s our succour as previously mentioned.
