Racism
Do you ever
wonder why we suffer the way we do? Why of all the people in the world, we went
into slavery. Shackles and chains have been taken off us and we still deal with
racism.
The Bible
gives us the answers to these questions.
Exd 6:6-8 Wherefore say unto the
children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the
burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will
redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye
shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the
burdens of the Egyptians.
8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to
give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an
heritage: I am the LORD
God is in
control of everything that happens in the earth. He has punished his chosen
people, the Israelites because of their sins. Warnings were given that this
would happen and that he would use other nations to bring the Israelites into
captivity and that we would serve hard bondage and suffer many things
whithsoever land that we were carried away to.
Leviticus 26:13-18 13I am the LORD
your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not
be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go
upright.14But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these
commandments;
15And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so
that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:
16I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror,
consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow
of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies:
they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth
you.
18And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you
seven times more for your sins.
We see that
the Israelites going into captivity would continue throughout history, even in
the latter days.
Deuteronomy 4:30-31 When
thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the
latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his
voice;
31(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither
destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
Our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ also warned us that we would not return to our homeland of
Jerusalem until he returns.
Luke 21:22-24 22For these be
the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those
days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this
people.
24And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive
into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the
times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
We can only
get ease and rest in our land of captivity now by following the examples of
Jesus Christ as it is written in the Holy Bible.
Matthew 11:28-29 28Come unto
me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and
ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Christ
instructed the Israelites who were under captivity of the Romans at the time, to
learn of him because he obeyed the word of God to the death of the cross and he
was very humble. Because of this, he was able to endure all the hardship and
grief of this life and was exalted, which is an example for us today.
