Mexicans Pray to Death Saint for Relief from the Pandemic

“We pray to her so she protects us…”

Santa Muerte has many followers and the devastating effects from the coronavirus has only spawned more followers. There was a recent article from msn that highlighted this news story where many people have been coming from near and far praying to this saint asking for health and protection.

People have even come from the U.S and Europe to a statue that has been erected in Mexico City, bringing different things such as flowers, sweets and liquor. One person stated, “She helps you when you’re on the razor’s edge, facing insecurity, economic troubles or — like now — health problems,”

Another person states, “The only thing I ask of my saint is to give me strength, health and harmony. Nothing else matters if you don’t have good health,”

Doing these things is unequivocally and unquestionably going against what God told us to do. In fact this goes against the second of the 10 commandments that he gave us to follow, which states the following.

Exodus 20:4-5Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

People then wonder why no relief is coming to them.

Leviticus 26:1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image,

neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God.

The Most High God is sore vexed when we pray to these dumb, stupid and evil idols, because we’re putting something else before him and the very first commandment is, Thou shalt have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:3).

To get relief from the coronavirus or anything else for that matter, it’s the Lord God through his son Jesus Christ that we should be praying to.

Let’s look at the example of how Jesus taught us how to pray.

Luke 11:1-4 And it came to pass, that, as he [Jesus] was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father [Not a saint] which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

For those of you that are reading this and doing this practice, you should stop from doing this and pray to the Most High God and ask him for forgiveness of your sins.

2 Corinthians 6:16-18 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing;

and I will receive you.

18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Acts 17:30-31 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
